Epub conversion?

Does anyone know of a reliable program that could be used to convert images to an epub file for reading on ebooks? I've done a little browsing via google but don't want to download stuff willy nilly and get something nasty... again...

Also stuff is going slow, but it is still going. I'll let you know when something of note happens or if I ever decide to stop.

  1. From what I understand, epub is mainly for text, not so much for images. I think cbr/cbz tends to be the main image format. Just my two cents, but I'm willing to listen if there are other opinions.

  2. I read a lot of comics on CBR format, I believe thats the most prominent one. I don't know how to convert them though, but its most likely much more work, but I could be wrong.

  4. There are two file extensions you can try, .cbr and .pdf.

To make a .cbr file, all you have to do is number the pages in order from first to last if you haven't already (i.e., the first page would be 001.jpg, the second 002.jpg, and so on), compress them into a .rar archive, then rename the archive extension to .cbr. I've done it before to read comics on homebrew comic readers.

Now if your ebook reader doesn't support .cbr files, you could still try converting the images to a .pdf. Your best bet for adding images to a .pdf file would be dopdf, ( http://www.dopdf.com/ ) which is the most convenient one I've found so far. It installs itself as a virtual printer, so make sure the comic pages can fit an 8.5x11 page or they will be cropped and rotated by the printing wizard. Also, you may have to edit full page spreads together in an image editor and rotate the page in adobe reader. I haven't tested this method on an actual ebook reader, however, so I can't guarantee it will work.

Hopefully my long-winded comment will be of some help, PharmaDan. Thank you very much for doing these awesome translations. :)

  5. Thanks for suggestions guys.

I'm trying to go .epub since it works on dang near every e-reader. and the specific reader I have access to is my family's Kindle Fire.

The way I see it if I can convert some of my files so I can read them on that it would be more convienent that lugging my laptop everywhere when I'm going to have time to kill and nothing to do.
